ABOUT: Cheng (Christine) Dong is a visual artist and experimental printmaker based in Bristol. She holds a Master's Degree in Visual Communication from the Royal College of Art, London (2023) and a Master’s degree in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from the University of the West of England, Bristol (2024); a Bachelor of Arts in French from Fudan University, Shanghai (2012).

Cheng refers to herself as an explorer. She works with graphics, printmaking, materiality, and anything visible—or yet to be seen—at hand. Her research particularly inhabits human-constructed systems such as mathematics, language, and measurement, where rigor and rationality prevail. It is always characterised by arbitrary assumptions, rules, and visual “validations” through which she seeks to discover echoes between science and human lives and room for fictional stories in a world with overabundant knowledge and fortified by the rigid walls of logic.
